NEW FROM GLOSSIER | BLACK TIE SET | As Seen on Anne

We are about to enter holiday party season, and whether you’re hitting up an ugly sweater party with friends, or a formal event for work, you don’t want to overdo it when it comes to the cocktails, or makeup.

Glossier recently launched their Black Tie Set, a collection of four products that will help make getting glam for your holiday festivities quick and easy. Today’s post reviews the set and whether I think it’s worth purchasing. Keep reading!

If you’re new to this space you probably aren’t aware that I’m a Glossier addict. I genuinely love the brand and products, but wasn’t very impressed with their latest launch. The Black Tie Set, which is only available for a limited time, consists of a lip gloss, nail polish, eyeliner and highlight and retails for $50. I was super stoked to order the set, but was a bit disappointed when it arrived. While the concept is great, none of the products really stood out to me.

I’ll start by saying the lip gloss and eyeliner are, in my opinion, the two best products from the set. But again, aren’t really that special. The gloss is clear, which I like, and the applicator is nice, but the formula is really thick and I found it didn’t wear well throughout the day. Because the formula feels thick, it doesn’t reapply easily. If you’re looking for a great clear gloss, I highly recommend the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer High Volume Lip Plumper in Pink 001. I’m very picky when it comes to gloss formulas and the Dior one is excellent!

The eyeliner pencil is also nice. The shade is called Graphite and it’s a shimmery charcoal color. It’s a pretty color and the formula reminds me of the Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Gel Eyeliner. Because I have the Bobbi Brown pencil in a dark brown shade (I find dark brown eyeliners to be the most flattering on me), I don’t really reach for the Glossier pencil that much.

The two products I liked the least in the Black Tie Set are the nail polish and highlight. I was so disappointed in the highlight! I love Haloscope in Quartz and Topaz, but Moonstone just did not work for me. Moonstone has a bit of a holographic-purple sheen to it, which is cool, but I found it to be difficult to wear. The nail polish formula is nice and the applicator is great, but I just don’t wear pastel colors on my nails so I’ll be giving it to a friend.

While I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Black Tie Set, I’ve got my eye on Glossier’s next product launch, Priming Moisturizer Rich, which debuts in January. Did you purchase the Black Tie Set? What are your thoughts? Leave a comment!
